Preparation

  1. For the pie dough, combine 2 cups (500 ml) of all-purpose flour and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of sugar in a large bowl, then add the egg, water, and oil. Mix until the mixture is smooth and can be formed into a ball. Place the ball on a floured surface. Roll out with a rolling pin and tranfert it in a pie plate.
  2. Prepare the apple mixture. Lightly brown the apples in a nonstick skillet, add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of sugar and cinnamon. Cook for a few minutes, or until the apples begin to soften. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with gelatin. Let cool. Place the apple mixture in a colander to remove excess liquid.
  3. Creamed sugar: In a saucepan, combine the sugar and 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of all-purpose flour. Add the milk and 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring with a whisk, until the mixture thickens.
  4. Mix 4 tablespoons (60 ml) of butter and 1/3 cup (85 ml) of sugar, add the oat flour and quick-cooking oats. Mix until smooth.
  5. Transfer the pie dough to a pie plate. Add the sugar and cream mixture to the apple mixture. Spread over the pie crust. Add the oatmeal mixture. Press down lightly with your fingers to secure the crust. Bake for 45 minutes at 400°F (200°C), or until the crust is golden brown.
