Pour the vegetable oil and corn kernels into a large saucepan.
Heat the kernels and oil over high heat, cover, and shake the pan. The kernels will begin to pop after 60 to 90 seconds. Leave on the heat until all the kernels have popped.
Salted seasonings:
Barbecue: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Add this mixture to the popped corn and mix well.
Parmesan, garlic, and herbs: Add a mixture of grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and your favorite dried herbs to the popcorn. Mix thoroughly to coat the popcorn.
Sriracha and lime: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, lime juice, and sriracha sauce to taste. Add this mixture to the popcorn and mix well.
Sweet seasonings:
Maple and coconut: Add maple syrup and unsweetened shredded coconut to the popcorn and mix well.
Chocolate and fleur de sel: Melt dark chocolate chips in a double boiler. Once the chocolate has melted, sprinkle with fleur de sel. Add this mixture to the popcorn and mix well.
