Blueberry and basil syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 ml) Organic Golden Cane Sugar
  • 1 cup (250 ml) water
  • 1 cup (250 ml) Québec blueberries
  • 6 basil leaves
  • 1 lemon (zest and juice)

Preparation

  1. Bring all ingredients to a boil over high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Coarsely mash the blueberries.
  3. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let stand for 30 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to separate the liquid from the pulp.
  6. Keep in the refrigerator.

Suggestion: You can add a few tablespoons of flavored syrup to your sparkling water, tea, favorite cocktails, glass of white wine, or champagne. Let your creativity run wild!
