Oatmeal and apple sauce cookies

  • 1 1/4 cups of Organic Quick Oat Flakes

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1/2 tablespoon Vanilla

  • 1/2 cup homemade or store-bought applesauce

The recipe

  • Place the rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a bowl, combine oats, flour, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon.

  • In another bowl, beat the egg. Add remaining moist ingredients.

  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until homogenized.

  • Using a proportioning spoon, divide the dough into 10 patties, spacing them slightly apart. Leave in rounder balls or crush with fingers moistened with water for flat patties.

  • Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes before serving or cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.
